CABSAT 2017 Taps Into Opportunities In Disruptive OTT Space

Besides hosting the GVF Satellite Hub Summit, CABSAT will also feature the Content Delivery Hub that addresses OTT and IPTV opportunities

Over the past decade, the broadcast industry has witnessed the growth of over-the-top (OTT) platforms, which has been reflected in how consumers’ viewing behaviour has changed, with content being consumed across multiple devices, regardless of time and location.

Despite the decrease in linear viewership brought about by this wave of disruption, the value of the global entertainment and media market is expected to reach US$1.14 billion by 2020, according to the Global Entertainment and Media Outlook report by PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Media professionals will attempt to address these issues, and more, when they gather next month at CABSAT 2017, which aims to drive disruptive innovation and monetisation opportunities across the Middle East, Africa and South Asia (MEASA) film and audio entertainment media market.

To be held at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) from March 21-23, the event will once again be divided into three sectors: CABSAT, SATEXPO and Content Marketplace.

With a continued focus on the production and distribution of filmed content, CABSAT will also host the Content Delivery Hub, an annual platform anchoring OTT and IPTV technologies that facilitate the delivery of video and digital content via IP.

Trixie Loh Mirmand, senior vice-president, events, DWTC, said: “CABSAT provides the international media community and its investors an opportunity to network with distributors, production companies, key broadcasters, content vendors and content creators that are working to expand and innovate the satellite and broadcast industry in the region.

“Additionally, the show is the premiere platform in the region for industry experts to provide key insights into upcoming trends and strategies that will undoubtedly strengthen corporate strategy and identify untapped sales channels.”

Also featured at CABSAT this year will be the GVF Satellite Hub Summit — supported by the Global VSAT Forum (GVF) — which brings industry professionals to discuss the latest technological advancements taking place in the satellite industry.

SDMC Will bring its latest OTT + 4G lTE Set top box and end-to-end solution to this exhibition.Looking forward to meeting you at stand (Hall 4, CD-22)
